As I mentioned in my earlier journal entry a property that abuts the local State Gamelands was opened up for archery-only hunting for deer and turkey. I stayed away from the property for the first week, not because of any type of anti-hunting incidents, but rather because I was gambling on the hunters pushing the deer off of the property into adjoining areas.

Out of all the many strategies to hunt, deer stand hunting is perhaps the most productive. It stands to reason for the stand hunter is sitting motionless and thus is avoiding detection through movement. The ingredients were all there for a super hunt. It was the middle of November, peak of the rut, and I was in the heart of big whitetail country.
