Location and size
California is a state on the West Coast of the United States, along the Pacific Ocean. It is bordered by Oregon to the north, Nevada to the east, Arizona to the southeast, and, to the south, the Mexican state of Baja California. California is the most populous U.S. state. Its four largest cities are Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose, and San Francisco. The state is home to eight of the nation's fifty largest cities. It is known for its varied climate and geography as well as its diverse population.

Dove Hunting
Dove hunters in this country may have the opportunity to 2008 California Dove Hunting Season hunt several species of dove including Chinese Spotted Doves, Eurasian Collared-doves, Ringed-turtled Doves, White-wing Doves and Mourning Doves. With a lot of species of doves found in California, dove hunters need to know what species of dove they are hunting and what the bag limit as well as the possession limit for each one of these species is. Luckily for these dove hunters in California only two species have bag limits and possession limits. These two species are Mourning Doves and White-wing Doves. The bag limit for these 2 species are 10 birds and the possession limit is 20 birds. All other species of doves found in California have no bag or possession limit. But, dove hunters will definitely need to know which dove they have bagged if they have over 10, especially if they wish to avoid a hefty fine.
Not only will dove hunters in California need to be able to recognize the five species of doves that are found in California, they will be required to know what rules and regulations are en implemented by the California Department of Fish and Game. These rules and regulations state that each dove hunter must have a California hunting license, that new hunters must have successfully completed a hunter education program and that all hunters must have an Upland Game Bird Stamp. The California dove hunting rules and regulations also state that dove can be hunted from 30 minutes before sunrise until sunset with shotguns and shot shells only. Also, shotguns used for hunting dove in California must be 10 gauge or smaller and must not be capable of holding more than 3 shotgun shells in the magazine and chamber. If the shotgun used is required to have a plug, the plug must be in place in the shotgun or it is illegal.
